Kindergarten Thanksgiving Songs

Two Thanksgiving songs that Kindergartners learned in the month of November. These songs reinforce their abilities to sing and speak with a steady beat, as well as use icons to represent musical ideas (clapping) - the first steps to reading music. Finally, these two songs help students understand patterns in music, with three lines of each song the same and one different.

Worthington Elementary Honors Choir 2010

An exciting opportunity is coming for 5th and 6th grade students in the early part of 2010! If your 5th or 6th grade student enjoys singing, consider having them participate in the First Annual Worthington Elementary Honors Choir.

There will be four rehearsals at McCord Middle School in February and the concert will be held at Kilbourne Middle School on Monday, March 8th, 2010 at 7:00PM. This is an opportunity for students to futher develop their voices and to get to know students from others schools in a musical setting, as well as an opportunity to get to know their future Choir Teachers, Mrs. Bates (McCord) and Ms. Pohl (Perry and Phoenix).

There is a $15 fee for Honors Choir, which covers the cost of a t-shirt as well as music, both for each child to keep. Fees and Applications are due back to Mrs. Hogan at Bluffsview by Friday, December 11th, 2009. Applications will be sent home with every 5th and 6th grade student at Bluffsview.

If you have questions or need an another application, please contact Mrs. Hogan! (Chogan@worthington.k12.oh.us) I hope we have many participants from Bluffsview!

Congratulations Music Makers!

Congratulations to members of the Bluffsview Music Makers on two wonderful performances! The group performed this past week at our annual Veterans' Day Assembly as well as this past Saturday at the brand new McConnell Arts Center in Worthington. The group was invited to perform in this new facility as part of its month-long opening celebration. And what a beautiful facility it is! Hopefully later this month you'll be able to hear some sound clips from this performance.
